How to Photograph Birds Tut. by KatiBear How to Photograph Birds Tut. by KatiBear
:phew: Took me a while but I got there in the end.

Hope someone finds this helpful.
If you've found this useful and have used any of this information for bird photography, I'd really love to seem them!

This tutorial could be adapted for mostly any animal photography too.

Wood background: [link]

Rest of the images used belong to me.

Edit: Awh a DD! Thank you =eldris and `Hanratty-Stock

Note:
Some people asked what equpiment I use;

Camera
Nikon D80

Lenses
70-300mm Macro Lens F4-5.6
&
18-135mm 3.5-5.6

I barely use a tripod mainly because I just don't get on with them, maybe it's because I only have a cheapy one. I only use a tripod when taking photographs of scenery. So it's mostly point and shoot, or lean up against something for steadyness!

Im a recent convert to bird photography, and wanted to thank you for the awesome tutorial!!
Question.. your lens is the 70-300? do you find you need to have a larger lens to get birds?? how near do the birds tend to be?

Thank you very much for taking your time to do this tutorial! :aww: I love it

Even being the most obvious thing, I didn't think about bringing treats ^^; silly me :XD:
I find this very useful but sadly, I live in a city and my parents wouldn't allow me to go out so early either TT_TT But if I someday go to somewhere where I can try this, I definitely will! :w00t:

:+fav:

And congratulations on the DD! :)

This will be useful when it comes to the basics of being a nature or bird photography. I pretty much cheat by using a special automatic camera for my bird photos but I still want to be there for the action someday.

I will follow this procedure when the time comes that I get an...expensive professional camera.
